The Geographical Society of New South Wales is a professional society whose members are geography academics, teachers, practising geographers from both the public and private spheres, and other interested members of the public.

The Society's mission is to encourage and promote geography in New South Wales and throughout Australia. The Society both engages and elevates geographical research, scholarship and education. The Society writes and encourages geographical submissions to appropriate authorities on environmental and social issues in Australia. The Society works to support geographical literacy, awareness and inspire enthusiasm for geography among the public in a globally connected world.

The Geographical Society of New South Wales (GSNSW) is pleased to provide financial support for a range of symposia that address important and timely issues within the discipline of geography. Funding is available to a maximum of $5000 to support the convening of workshops, seminars or small conferences conducted in the period of 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018. Applications must be made on the form provided.  Retrospective applications cannot be considered.  The deadline for submissions for the GSNSW Symposium Funding Scheme is Friday CoB 17th March 2017.  Completed application forms should be sent electronically to Chair of the Symposium Funding Scheme Committee, Professor Kevin M Dunn (k.dunn@westernsydney.edu.au
